Assertiveness in business "The secret to success"

Daily life requires each of us to make decisions on many issues. There are issues related to work, and there are also many issues of human life.

In business, in trade, in family life, in school, and in many other social activities…. Decisions keep coming up.

Life requires us to make decisions in such necessary situations. And do not hesitate, be brave when making such decisions.

One of the most important things in business is to make correct and accurate judgments and decisions regarding specific activities.

Depending on the situation, each person has different ways of judging and deciding.

There are people who rely on their intuition about the course of events to make decisions.

There are also people who, when making their judgments and decisions, base their decisions solely on the experience and know-how they have accumulated in the course of doing business.

As for myself, what kind of judgments and decisions have I made in the past?

Of course, each specific case is different. But in general, I can say that I have relied mainly on my own life experiences to make judgments and decisions in business activities.

For example, in the past, when MATSUHITA Electric Company was still a small manufacturing plant, I often made decisions without consulting anyone. Even when deciding on important issues in business development, I often went to customers and places of business to discuss and in the conversation, ideas often flashed that helped me make effective decisions on the spot. That was the way of doing things at that time. Another reason for this way of doing things was that it was necessary at that time. If MATSUSHITA Electric Company were now, I would probably ask everyone's opinions to gather my intelligence before making a decision and decision. Of course, I still have to pay attention to carefully consider and deduce what everyone's opinions are.

But in the days when MATSUSHITA Electric Company was still a small factory, it was impossible to do so. The truth was that there were objective reasons for this: First, there were few people working in the factory. Second, most of them were young and had not received any training. Therefore, even if I asked them, they would not know what to do and what not to do. In such a situation, I knew no other way but to make judgments and decisions based on hunches or feelings that flashed through my mind.

Since I was 9 years old, I had to start doing practical work. It is obvious that to have an understanding of people and society, especially about business, almost everyone needs to be taught and guided by many people and must learn valuable experiences from those who have gone before.

Through work in social reality, everyone can accumulate experience for themselves.

And from those life experiences, each person will naturally have the ability to perceive and directly evaluate things.

But here, it should be noted that, if we only rely on the thoughts that suddenly flash in our heads, we cannot always make correct inferences to make decisions.

After all, each case has its own basic criteria for resolution. In other words, it is only on the basis of basic criteria that a judgment can be made.

So, for me, what are those basic standards? That needs to be considered from many aspects, it cannot be said in general.

But it can be summarized in one sentence: What is Right? That is, when making any decision, you should not rely solely on calculating the pros and cons: if you do so, will it benefit you? Will it harm you? But you must always think carefully about "what is right".

So correct is considered the top basic standard.

That is why, in many cases, I naturally consider the "gains and losses" in my own business as secondary.

On the other hand, in many cases where judgment is needed to make a decision, I have always kept in mind the "BIRTH AND DEVELOPMENT" of all things.

So how to understand “birth and development” correctly? We can summarize it in one sentence like this, that is “Every day is new”.

Indeed, all things are constantly moving and constantly changing,

It is the law of nature and the way of the universe.

In other words, all things are always in a state of "birth and development".

Accordingly, all business activities of the company are fundamentally governed by this rule and MATSUSHITA Electric Company is constantly developing at the pace of "every day is new".

In fact, I constantly promote business activities based on the application of the law of "birth and development".

So it can be said that the way of thinking about “birth and development” becomes one of the basic standards for judging things. Or in other words, “birth and development” is the fulcrum of judgment.

But anyway, when making decisions, people usually think about the gains and losses, the benefits and the harms first. That's just common sense.

However, sometimes thinking too much about the pros and cons of the usual practice makes one indecisive. In such situations, people often have to think of the fantasy of “relying on God” and put their hope in it.

In such situations, everyone is troubled by a vague feeling of "Am I doing the right thing? If this method doesn't work, then that's all there is to it."

For me, at that time, the story of General HIDEYOSHI who won the life-and-death battle at YAMAYAKI often came to mind.
